So, you have found yourself on this website to discover “MyLifeAsLJ,” but you probably have no idea who I am or why you would want to know anything about my life in the first place. WELL. That’s what I’m here to tell you about! Let’s start at the beginning…
I was born in Pennsylvania about 23 years ago by the name of Leah Jean. I grew up listening to all kinds of music 24/7 and playing with my neighborhood friends until the sun went down every single day. I was a little tomboy who loved getting my feet dirty after playing barefoot outside for hours, but I also loved all things Barbie and pink. Life hasn’t changed all that much since then! I graduated high school and moved on to get a degree in Business from Penn State (We Are!), which then led me to the land of my dreams...California. I’m not kidding; I had been dreaming of living in California since the day I first visited that golden state when I was 12. I made it my mission to get my Bachelor’s degree from the best school in the world (my humble opinion of PSU) and move to California as soon as I graduated… so, I did it! All on my own.
Okay, so I got a degree in Business from a top-tier school. Now what am I doing with it?
I’m glad you asked because I have been wondering the same thing! I started off with a job at Target as one of their Executive Managers, then decided it wasn’t for me and it wasn’t the right timing for this path on my journey. I moved to a mountain soon after and lived a very simple, minimalistic life for a few months to get back to my routes and figure out what I was supposed to do next. I started by asking myself this question: “What am I passionate about?” Easy! Music, health, fitness, food, and entertaining. Great! Okay... so how do you combine all of these passions? Well… I’m not quite sure.
If you read my last blog post, I told you about my decision to pursue fitness instead of music. To sum it all up, I don’t have the resources or people to guide me in my songwriting & music-making adventures, but I will always have everything I need to stay fit and fuel my body with nutritious foods. So, this is the path I have decided to dedicate my energy to right now.
Last year, and many years before that, I mainly focused on the music part of my journey. I posted song covers to YouTube every week and I live-streamed everyday, singing to the 54,000 people who followed me. I entered singing contests and earned many opportunities to perform in front of large crowds with grammy-winning artists, like Clean Bandit. I performed at endless events on campus at Penn State with my rap group, during which I had the time of my life. That was all so much fun, but it also took a lot of work. It started to feel like singing and making my recordings absolutely perfect was something I had to do, not something I wanted to do. Even then, I was never 100% satisfied with how my videos turned out because there was always something I could do a little bit better. Fitness and healthy food, however, is something I always loved doing, every. single. day.
Now, I am working at a local gym (makes sense, doesn’t it?) and studying to become a personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise (also makes sense, huh?). I want my life to revolve around helping people heal themselves in the most natural, fun, exciting, and positively life-changing way possible. I want to encourage all-around health and nutrition for the body, mind, and soul. I want people to be happy as often as possible, and enjoy living their lives to the fullest every day. Most of all, I just want people to SMILE and love themselves, wherever they are in their own personal journey.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey of self-love, overall health, and adventure! I’ll be posting videos on YouTube every single week to invite you into My Life As LJ. I’ll show you my entire day, including my workout, what I’m eating that day, and some inspiration for your own life. On Instagram, I’ll be posting 3x a week with some fitness selfies, some “Wow, Leah! You’re actually not wearing workout clothes and you look like a fancy-schmancy gal today” rare photos, some yummy food pics, and plenty of inspirational quotes to get you going.

Love yourself. Take care of yourself. Find happiness and light in every situation. <3
Life has been a little... all over the place lately. After moving across the country on my own last summer, I quit my job, moved to a new town, moved to a new town again, completely changed my career path, and did some soul searching.
I've always been one to jump quick at new opportunities, so often that I place too many things on my plate and can't accomplish all of them without stressing myself out way too much. First, my life consisted of school, then sports, then music, then fitness, then management, then absolutely nothing, and now I'm bouncing back from that.
There have always been two major lights guiding my life ever since I can remember: Music & Health. I spent my childhood listening to the best musicians to have ever lived, thanks to my parents, and playing endless amounts of sports until the sun went down each evening, again, thanks to my parents.
Balancing these two passions and prioritizing them both is not an easy task. Music and health can surely fall into the same category because music absolutely heals; no doubt about it. Establishing a living as a young grad while trying to follow your many passions, however, is even harder.
For those reasons, I have decided to choose the one path that I can pursue no matter where I am, what time it is, or what resources I have. That path is health, wellness, nutrition, and fitness. You don't need any equipment or anybody to eat well, exercise, and inspire others to live their best life.
Let's backtrack for a second because I need to explain something. The direction I want to take with my music includes the help of multiple resources: a songwriter, instrumentalists, a producer, acquaintances in the industry, etc., Unfortunately, I don't have the people, time, or finances to dedicate to this project right now. Making music is an incredible outlet for creativity, stress, and pure joy, and I will never let that go. Trust me; I'm still singing and dancing 24/7!
Making it big with music, for me, revolves around YouTube and social media; you can't just get hired as a famous singer, at least not without knowing somebody who can get you there. I absolutely love creating covers, singing during my livestreams, and writing music. Even though I love doing these things, it's really hard to actually get started and allow your projects to come to fruition. When I record my cover songs, I listen to them over and over again, and the perfectionist in me always finds something wrong, or some part I could sing better. Eventually, I would just say "good enough, I guess", and post it, even if I wasn't in love with my video or vocals. For live streaming, I had to set aside at least two hours to stream, make sure I had a quiet place to sing, ensure that no one was around to get bothered by my endless singing, and get the energy to entertain people for 2+ hours straight without any breaks. To put it simply, this is a very taxing task. Writing music is relatively new for me, and I'm still learning. It is hard for me to get in the creative mindset without worrying what other people will think of me putting my thoughts and feelings out there for the world to hear. Additionally, I don't have the patience or desire to learn how to make beats, and I don't have the money or resources to find someone who will contribute to this part of the process. I am a singer and songwriter, but I can't do it alone.
I want to fully love every post and every project I create. I am an entrepreneur and a manager, so doing things on my own whenever I decide to comes most naturally to me. Eating well, being active, and learning constantly comes naturally to me. Motivating people, entertaining people, and teaching people comes naturally to me. This is why I have decided to focus my energy and social media on health/lifestyle-related content, and pursue a career as a personal trainer. Through these resources, I hope to gain a following on social media to encourage people to live healthier lives, connect with new friends, inspire others, grow my personal training business, build a gym, start a clothing line, gain sponsorship & travel opportunities, and to become a fitness model... just to name a few of my hundred goals. :)
I was born an entertainer and that is where my passion lies. I entertain by singing, I entertain by talking to a camera, and I entertain by welcoming anyone and everyone into my life. YouTube vlogs are coming. Instagram photoshoots are coming. Fitness training is coming. Everything is falling into place, and I cannot wait to see where it all takes me. To say the least, I AM SO EXCITED! I have a really good feeling about this... 💞
