Today was officially day 1 of my 90 Day Challenge, and if I had to rate how I did, I'd give myself a B+! Let's take a look at today's goals and how I may (or may not have, whoops!) accomplished them: ![]() 1. Nutrition I started off the day with my homemade collagen chai tea latte. I didn't have any plant-based milks, so I made my own oat milk! I didn't really like it though, lol. I really have to perfect this recipe because the process is SOOO easy! As I was enjoying my delicious pick-me-up drink of the day, I made my grocery delivery order from Whole Foods. Have you ever tried this before? Now that I have, I am neverrrr going back to the store! By buying my groceries online, I'm able to compare prices of different brands of the same exact foods and actually stick to my budget! Although, I think I will still go to Trader Joe's for their meats - it's just too much of a steal, I can't resist! ![]() For lunch, I got some Pinterest inspiration and made ground turkey tacos with romaine leaves as my "shell," plus some salsa and avocado to add some calories and keep my full. The problem was... I got hungry again 30 minutes later. You know what's weird though (and kinda sad)? I haven't felt the hunger feeling in a long time. That means I haven't been giving my body the proper rest it needs to digest one meal before I consume the next. This also helped me realize that the nutrition part of this challenge is going to take some getting used to. I typically eat a lot of carbs and grains, so cutting out the rice, GF bread, and GF pastries every now and then is going to force me to find different ways to get full... A.K.A. fats! I'm actually excited for this because eating a high healthy fats diet is extremely good for your skin, hair, nails, brain, and hormones! If you didn't see from my picture, scroll back up and check out those carrots! Straight from the ground! I didn't want to throw away the green leafy tops, so I took to Instagram Stories to ask if anyone had any recipes. Thankfully my beautiful big from my college business frat told me about a carrot top pesto (recipe here!) I could make! All it took was one Google search, and less than 10 minutes later, I had one of the most delicious pestos I have ever tasted *cue mouth-watering*. I glazed it on top of some organic chicken and zoodles, and voila, dinner. ![]() I mean how good does that pesto prep look?! As you can imagine, going from eating whatever I want to suddenly eating only healthy whole foods left me with cravings for dessert. (Btw, I usually do go cold-turkey when I'm trying something new... call me crazy!) I wanted chocolate soooo bad, so I thought... what would fill this craving? Fruit? Nah, not quite ready to replace my choc cravings with that. GF chocolate chip cookie crisps I had in my pantry from before the challenge? YES!!! I mean... no. No. Stick to your plan, LJ, it's only day 1! Push through it. Then, I suddenly remembered a recipe I learned from the incredible Blogilates' Cassey Ho herself almost a decade ago: 2 ingredient pancakes! That's right - 1 banana & 2 eggs. Mash the banana, mix it with the eggs, and fry it like a pancake. That's it! I topped it with some PBfit (+ water to make it creamy) and honey, and it totally hit the spot. Fast-forward to right now and you'd see me munching on a mango. Sometimes there is no better fruit than a mango! 2. Exercise Once again, I took to Instagram Stories (if you've made it this far, follow me and DM to start a conversation! instagram.com/mylifeaslj, or @MyLifeAsLJ) to ask if I should do a Pilates or HIIT workout. Thankfully, you guys were on the same page as me ;) Pilates it was! I did this great 30 minute pilates workout by Move with Nicole, and it was so good! It was both relaxing and really challenging at the same time. Do it & you'll know what I mean! Oh, and I went for a 20 minute walk, mostly to clear my head and get focused :) 3. Self-Care Well, I'm doing my skincare routine right after this post! I promise!! 4. Business Okay, this is where the missing 20% comes from. I spent a lot of time sitting and not a lot of time working. The smokey weather outside was bumming me out (prayers to those affected by the California fires <3) and the procrastination was hitting hard. I'll let you in on a little fact about me. Procrastination is my biggest enemy. And you know whose fault that is? Mine. Tooootally mine, and I know that. But for some reason, for so many years, I have never really really put effort into tackling that beast. It's silly because I know exactly what I want, and I know how to get started, but I just don't. I never really understood why, and I still don't, but I recently read a quote (I actually put it on my wall to give me a constant reality check when I'm feeling laxy) that says, "You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way." I realized, yep, I am the only thing standing in my way. I really can do whatever the heck I put my mind to, so I just need to do it. That is why my 90 Day Challenge exists. I knew this would be the hardest part of the challenge, and I've already been defeated on Day 1. It's almost like the health stuff was easier because it was less of a task than the business stuff was. I don't know why! BUT. I told myself, "Leah, you're not going to let another day pass you by without working on your business every single day. If you really want it that badly, do it. Think of your why. Think of the people you're doing it for. And do it for yourself." So, I'm getting up at 5:30 tomorrow, doing my morning routine, making my collagen chai latte, and sitting down to work on the business. Let's do this thing! Finally!!! 5. Track Progress Here we are! My day 1 blog! It's so funny because I didn't really feel like doing this, but as soon as I sat down, the words flew right out of me and this actually feels incredibly relaxing. I love doing this so much, so now, I just need to remember this part. Remember this feeling, and keep going! SO! What did you think? Did you like this blogging style? Please let me know. Seriously! I want to find all of the ways I can improve, and I want you to like what you're reading and feel inspired. That is my biggest goal of all - to inspire people and be a friend to them who they can talk to about anything :) Leave a comment below, DM me on Insta, or shoot me an email! I'll always respond :) Thank you for being here & thank you for being you, Leah Jean
