Friday night means date night! Get a closer look into a day in my life, and the best gluten free & dairy free foods in town from the Pushkin's family!
Oh how I love date nights... and fall fashion. It's September, which means it's officially appropriate to wear jackets again, now that it's not 100 degrees everyday. Actually, who am I kidding. I live in California, but at least it's getting closer to 80 degrees, which I can suffer through with a jacket!

Tonight, we decided to go to our favorite gluten-free restaurant in Sacramento - Sibling's by Pushkin's. Honestly, regardless of it being gluten free, it's actually our favorite restaurant in Sac, period. I will shout my love of Pushkin's from the rooftops because it is so dang good, and I cannot tell you how big of a relief it is to look at a menu without wondering if I can eat something or not. Their saying is, "Of course everything is gluten free, we're a part of Pushkin's." And girl, do I love the sound of that.

We started off the night with some drinks (yes, they even have gluten free beer) and appetizers. Last time we were here, we got the grilled shishito peppers, so we had to get them again. They're served with a vegan garlic aioli, and this app is to die for. We also tried the spinach artichoke dip - 10/10, as expected. After enjoying these incredible, mouth-watering appetizers, we ordered our main course.

As a gluten-free gal, it's really hard for me to find good gf fried food because mostly everything is coated in flour, or fried in a flour-infused oil. Tonight, my craving for fried foods led us to order the crispy chicken sandwich, which came with my favorite side - fries. I want to start of by saying that their bread is the best gluten-free bread I have ever had, and I've tried so many different kinds. Second, having fried chicken after years of not being able to made this meal even more enjoyable than it already was. (Thank you, Pushkin's family!) Now, for the best part... dessert!

Pushkin's recently opened a donut and ice cream shop a few months ago, and although this entire post sounds like an sponsored ad for Pushkin's, I swear it's not - it really is that good, and I recommend it to everybody, gluten-free or not. Okay, so this place is an absolute boss business move. First of all, the donuts are incredible and I have never been able to find fresh gluten free & vegan donuts, so this was an absolute dream turned reality for me. Second, they have homemade vegan ice cream and once again, it is the best I have ever had. I try not to do dairy as often as I can, so finding a vegan ice cream that doesn't come in a pint from Target... I was so happy! Also, I got to have cookie dough & cookies and cream ice cream, which is so hard to find gluten-free. I don't know what's better... the donuts or the ice cream. So I always get both :)
